Things I Love Thursday: Winter

I should clarify. I love Florida's winter.

NOT THIS YEAR THOUGH. It is in the upper 70s and low 80s in Orlando right now. I can't even wear cute fall clothes because it feels like summer outside!

Since it's Groundhog Day I thought I'd let everyone know I am hoping for 6 more MONTHS of winter, not just 6 weeks. It's still too hot in Florida. Eventually I will not be complaining about the weather. I promise.

Things I Love Thursday: Offices

Secret obsession confession time... I seriously LOVE looking at others' offices.  I'll look at anyone's office, I'm not picky, but my favorites to look at are those of famous people!

einstein

Einstein's office. This makes me feel better about the piles of paper that tend to accumulate on my desk!

martha-s

Martha Stewart's work office. Obviously super clean and streamlined.

Will Self is a British author who I have never heard of, but apparently he is famous. He organizes his stories in post it notes, which looks crazy cool.

Writers' rooms: 18.04.2009: Ciaran Carson

The office of another British author I've never heard of (but is apparently famous)  Ciaran Carson.   I especially like the tea and the bookcases!

I can't wait until I have my own house/apartment and can decorate the office area how I want. When my study space is pretty, neat, and organized, I enjoy sitting down to do work!

Things I Love Thursday: Puppies!

Well I'm back at school and I am missing my dog like crazy! I live close enough to home that I can go back on the weekends and see him but during the week I miss him so much!

Since I haven't seen him since SUNDAY MORNING (I know, so long) I am looking at pictures of puppies all the time! Well, at least when I'm not working on school stuff.

At the risk of sounding like a crazy dog lady (which I am, so... whatever), here are some of my favorite dogs!

Okay, I'm not sure what type of dog this is but he is so cute! I saw it on tumblr and seriously "Aww"-ed out loud!

This beagle is so precious!

I have wanted a dalmatian since I was a little girl! It's definitely because of the 101 Dalmatians movie!

I also really like Huskies! When I read Call of the Wild in middle school and researched the Iditarod I fell in love. They are just so beautiful! I really want to go dog sledding--it's on my bucket list!

Things I Love Thursday: Winter Hats

It's finally cold in Florida! Well, the high is in the upper 50s, but for us that's cold!

cat eye sunglasses ski hat
I love hats and sunglasses! This is on sale from Kate Spade, but unfortunately one cold week a year doesn't warrant $51 for a hat.

tiara ski hat
But if I did live somewhere cold, I'd ahve such a hard time deciding between the last oen and this one! I am basically a princes so the tiara is PERFECT! This is also by Kate Spade for $51.

This owl beanie is precious! It is hand sewn and JUST SO CUTE! I love owls.

Things I Love Thursday: HGTV

I could sit around and watch HGTV all day long.

House Hunters has been one of my favorite shows for as long as I can remember! I love looking at thow people decorate their homes and how diferent homes are set up. I'm also a big fan of House Hunters International.

I seriously LOVE Property Virgins with Sandra Rinomato. It's in Canada which is completely foreign to me (haha get it?) and the houses are usually SO expensive! They are all beautiful and I love watching Sandra work her realtor magic!

The properties in Selling New York are crazy! Some of the realtors make around $1 million in commission on the houses they showcase! If you can't tell my favorite shows are the ones with the most expensive houses.

I used to be really into the decorating shows as well but those have gone downhill over the last few years. I could sit around and watch HGTV for hours and hours because even if I don't really like the personalities on the show I can see different things in/out of the houses and decide what I do and don't like for whenever I buy myself a house/condo/apartment!

Things I Love Thursday: The Pioneer Woman

You might remember my tweet "True Life: I'm Obsessed with The Pioneer Woman". I stand by that tweet wholeheartedly. But really you guys, have you checked out her blog? Or her Food Network show? Or her twitter? Or her books?

Ree Drummond

Ree Drummond (THE Pioneer Woman) lives on a ranch in Oklahoma with her husband who she calls "Marlboro Man", their four ADORABLE children, and their herd of animals. Literally. I mean, they have pets and stuff but they live on a ranch you guys. THEY HAVE REAL ANIMALS!

I have to hand it to my Grandma, she is the first person who I heard talk about Ree's blog. When I visited her over the summer she asked me if I had ever heard of the blogger "The Pioneer Woman".  She probably had Ree's cookbook already... I'm not positive. I actually HAD heard of her blog before, but never visited it until my mom forced me to sit down with her and watch an episode of the Food Network TV show.

All of her recipes look DELICIOUS. Ree fixed these Duchess Potatoes on her Christmas Special, which re-airs for the last time today (12/22) at noon EST (so if you haven't watched it already make sure you set your DVR this morning!).  I'm making these for Christmas... mashed potatoes and egg yolks, what could be better?

TPW_6002

I mean really, look at this. How can you not want to make these?????

Anyway, big ups to my Mom and Grandma for introducing me to The Pioneer Woman! If you haven't watched her show or bought her cookbook or read her blog or followed her on twitter yet, WHY NOT??

Things I Love Thursday: NPR

Let's get the whole calling me a nerd thing out of the way. Yes, I am a nerd! I really love NPR!

I don't just listen to it in the car though. That's for regular people. I go back and listen to old "Fresh Air" episodes when I'm bored. I follow all of the different NPR shows on tumblr (and a few follow me back!). I love the NPR logo above this paragraph (and would really like the shirt and would do all sorts of things to have one)! I'm a contributor! Ahh I just really love NPR.

I feel like Ryan Gosling would be an NPR nerd too. We should get married.

TiLT: Candles

Confession: I am literally obsessed with candles.

I can’t help it—I love everything about them!  I love that they are fire and therefore keep my room warm (since I’m always cold and my apartment is usually cold as well). I love how the fragrance from a candle can make an entire room smell completely different. I mean, you obviously know you’re sitting in your room, but if you close your eyes and sniff real hard you might imagine you’re on a beach. Or in a forest. Or roasting marshmallows.

My candle love has gotten pretty out of hand over the last few months.  I pretty much exclusively burn Bath and Body Works/Slatkin & Co candles, which makes for some expensive brand loyalty.  I stock up as much as I can when there are sales BUT SOMETIMES THAT ISN’T ENOUGH! If I hear someone talking about a new B&BW candle they are loving I always want to go buy it so I can burn it that day!

Enter the 3/$5 mini candles.

I can’t get enough of these. They are itty bitty and so cute to look at! I even bought a tiny candle sleeve to hold the baby size candles because it makes it more festive to look at.  Also it’s tiny and therefore really cute so I HAD TO BUY IT!

My current favorite candles are Spiced Apple Toddy and Winter Cabin. Since I live in Florida, it never really gets cold (at all actually) until after Christmas—more in January and February than any other time of year.  These wintery smelling candles make me remember that Christmas is less than 3 weeks away! So while I study for finals and want to cry from Contracts class overload, all I have to do is inhale deeply and I’m reminded that it’s almost winter break!

TiLT: Christmas!

It’s December 1st and I am a Christmas nut, so obviously the thing I love this Thursday is Christmas!!

I’ve been preparing for Christmas since before Thanksgiving (as you know from my Christmas tree post), but it’s officially December 1 and I am now allowed to be as crazy about Christmas as I want!  Here’s a little secret—I went to Target on Halloween and bought Christmas decorations (shh… don’t tell!)

I love going to Disney around the holidays! Everything is decorated beautifully and Hollywood Studios has the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights! If you’ve never been and get the chance, I highly recommend it!

How cute are these penguins dressed up as Santa???

I basically AM the Crazy Target Lady!

Things I Love Thursday: Thanksgiving Edition

Call me a cheeseball but Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays! I always go to Tennessee to visit family and we have such a great time!  Here are some pictures from last year.

I am also really excited for the Macy*s Parade! Do you think they will have a Kermit balloon this year?

Also Thanksgiving marks the start of the Christmas season! Lights, decorations, and listening to Christmas music without getting funny looks… what more could a girl ask for?

I have so many thing to be thankful for this year, but mostly I’m thankful for my/my family’s good health and happiness! Have a happy Thanksgiving y’all!

Things I Love Thursday: Goldfish Crackers!

TiLT was created (or maybe not, but she's the only blogger I've seen do this) by Gala Darling. I love her blog. You need to go check it out.

Lately (for the past few months) I've been loving Goldfish Crackers!

They are salty and cheesy! The perfect snack!

The best kind is obviously Goldfish Colors, though I'm really not sure why.

But if you buy the Baby Goldfish, you get more for your money!
(there is somehow more product in the same bag with Baby Goldfish--who knew?)

Anyway, that's what I have been loving lately. What about you?
